Safaricom’s historic Kshs 681bn market value excites investors
Safaricom on Thursday touched a historic trading high of Kshs 17 on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), raising its market capitalisation by a hefty Sh41 billion compared to Monday this week. The new high price pushed the capitalisation of the giant telecommunication firm to Kshs 681 billion compared to Kshs 640 billion on Monday, when it hit a price of Kshs 16.00 per share.

Mobile soft loans for power consumers
Safaricom and Kenya Power have jointly launched a mobile phone-based soft loan facility for electricity consumers which will see customers get advance credit to settle their energy bills and repay the debt within seven days. According to Business Daily, Electricity consumers will get credit to settle power bills of between Kshs 100 and Kshs 2,000, which will be repaid at an upfront flat rate of 10 per cent of the borrowed amount.

Airtel Kenya has been honoured with the go to market excellence award during the 2015 Airtel global leadership conclave that took place from 19-21 March 2015 at Atlantis Palm in Dubai. The theme for this year’s conclave was “Winning Customers for Life”. The award contested amongst all 17 Airtel operations in Africa recognized Airtel Kenya’s strategic business approach that encompasses its customer driven market insights, product development strategies and acquisition plans. The company achieved a 200 per cent growth in the acquisition of new high value customers with a 25 per cent improvement in month 2 decay and 50 per cent reduction in Gross Acquisition Cost (GAC).

Azam TV van arrives in Kenya for live broadcast
Azam TV’s Outside Broadcasting (OB) van has arrived in Nairobi ahead of this weekend’s live Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League matches. This comes days after the Tanzanian-based broadcasters entered into a three-year rights partnership worth Kshs 202 million with FKF Premier League. The deal will see clubs in the newly formed FKF-PL each receive grants worth Kshs 10 million annually.
