University of Nairobi receives share of global US$1 million Healthcare Innovation Award
A team from the University of Nairobi has been awarded US$120,000 for an innovation designed to tackle child deaths using a bar-coded Vaccination/Mother and Child Wellness Card that tracks vaccinations and rewards mothers with discounts on farm products.

The scheme, successfully piloted in North Western Kenya, is one of four African initiatives to have won a share of the 2014 GSK and Save the Children Healthcare Innovation Award. The initiative was highlighted during a roundtable discussion with stakeholders and policy makers convened by GSK and Save the Children today to discuss the impact of the award on health innovation trends in Kenya.
Samsung inches closer to losing smartphone primacy
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is closer to losing its crown as global smartphone leader after posting a plunge in quarterly mobile earnings on Thursday, a day after rival Apple Inc reported the biggest profit in corporate history.

According to Business Daily, the South Korean giant said earnings from smartphones and other mobile gadgets dropped 64 per cent annually in the October-December period to 1.96 trillion (US$1.80 billion), contributing to its first annual earnings fall in three years.

Intel’s new core vPro processor to enhance wire-free computing

And Finally……Huawei Ascend p8 might be coming very soon!
The next phone in Huawei’s high-end P Series, which according to the numerical naming system of the range will be the P8, is set for a London launch on 15 April.
According to Wired UK, Huawei will not be unveiling any new phones at Mobile World Congress — just three wearable devices — and will instead hold a separate event in April, confirmed Jerry Huang, the company’s director of communications. Huawei previously launched the P6 in London in 2013 and last year launched the P7 in Paris.
