Okiya Omtata sues Communication Authority, Fred Matiang’i over TV switch-off
The Supreme Court did not order the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) and the Information ministry to switch off the analogue signals of four television stations, civil rights activist Okiya Omtata has said. Mr Omtata has filed a case seeking to have CA compelled to switch on the analogue signals of KTN, NTV, Citizen and QTV.
Kenya media owners want analogue signal back, plead for 100 days to migrate

Three mainstream media houses want analogue television broadcasting reinstated for 100 days to facilitate a smooth digital migration process. The broadcasters – Standard Group (KTN), Nation Media Group (NTV) and Royal Media Services (Citizen) – proposed yesterday that analogue signals should be reinstated until May 30 this year to enable the majority of Kenyans to watch television.
Kenya’s First Lady urges medical professionals to embrace IT
Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has urged medical professionals to embrace IT as it is a great asset which can enable the continent solve many recurrent problems that continue to plague the continent. She said this during the official opening of Africa’s scientific conference which kicked off in Nairobi on Wednesday.

Aga Khan University Hospital introduces video assisted chest surgery
Aga Khan University Hospital has become the first to introduce a Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) in Kenya. VATS enables doctors to operate inside the chest cavity with the help of 5-mm or 10-mm telescopes and instruments. The procedure is also useful for diagnosing cancer, infections, TB, lung fibrosis, tumours of the chest wall, draining fluid around the heart and lungs and treating repeatedly collapsing lungs.
M-Net’s ‘Maisha Magic’ channel to close in March due to low popularity
M-Net is set to close its ‘Maisha Magic’ channel from March this year due to low popularity, just six months after the launch, and shift its focus to ‘Maisha Magic Swahili’ which seems more popular with DStv susbcribers. According to a media release, the decision was made after an in-depth assessment of each of the channels’ viability, including a review of rankings and popularity.
