vFORUM East Africa 2022 Coming Soon!
The vFORUM East Africa event hosted by VMware, is back in-person in 2022. Set for 9 am, 27 September 2022 at the Villa Rosa Kempinski, the must-attend event for IT professionals is primed to deliver a roadmap to help build a future-ready multi-cloud infrastructure. This year’s vFORUM East Africa will showcase local customers, partners, and digital disruptors, while also diving into VMware’s practical technologies and solutions.
“We are delighted to be hosting VMware vFORUM East Africa in Kenya. The region continues to amaze the world with its innovative approach to technology deployments and hunger for digital transformation. Our goal with this event is not just to share information on what VMware can help our customers and partners achieve, but to create a platform where we can connect, share ideas, and turn digital concepts into actions,” said Lorna Hardie, Regional Director, VMware Sub-Saharan Africa, adding that, “The industry thought leaders and disruptors we welcome to the vFORUM stage have been carefully selected to change how we think about technology. And how we approach using it as businesses, citizens, and consumers,” says Lorna Hardie, Regional Director, VMware Sub-Saharan Africa.
vFORUM will focus on how companies can drive their digital transformation strategies, optimise, innovate, and be more competitive in a global market. East Africa is one of the most innovative markets in Sub-Saharan Africa when it comes to digital transformation with investments being made by many global organisations.

“We are participating on the global stage, enabled by technological advances and the acceleration of human understanding of its potential by, amongst other things, the recent pandemic. The ability for us to invent at a regional and country level has a direct impact on our value as individuals, enterprises, and countries,” stated Ian Jansen Van Rensburg, Regional Director, VMware Sub-Saharan Africa.
The rise of the inventor economy brings with it opportunity driven by global forces. VMware is deliberate about unlocking East Africa’s potential as the region is ideally positioned. Customers and partners can experience how platform teams focus on delivering a great developer experience while also providing a solution for deploying and running applications more securely, reliably, and at scale on any cloud.
“vFORUM East Africa 2022 is a key event for VMware and our customers and partners in the region. In my keynote, I will share views and insights into how digital transformation plays a role in the journey to the cloud, both as an operating model and using multi-cloud as a technology. For IT professionals, the event presents an exciting opportunity to share their views and hear about the experiences, successes, and best practices of VMware’s customers and partners,” said Boudewijn Aelbers, Director, Solution Engineering, VMware Benelux.

He added that “The East African market is no stranger to shaking up the technology status quo, which is evidenced in the diversity and possibilities for growth in the region, acting as prime drivers for innovation and market disruption. I am looking forward to engaging with attendees at vFORUM East Africa 2022 to discuss these possibilities.”
Whether you are starting with transforming the data centre with existing or new applications built in the cloud, vFORUM East Africa 2022 can help guide you to run any application on any cloud. This enables an organisation to join the race to become digitally, and cloud smart while achieving Zero Carbon commitment. The event will set the stage for VMware Explore Europe 2022 which, like vFORUM, targets both customers and partners and will be hosted in Barcelona in November.
“On a personal level, I am keenly interested in the value derived when human creativity and technological combinations collide. I am a technology realist and keenly interested in its value to humanity. I spend my time in technology organisations in an advisory and executive capacity, realising this value. I have spoken on the global stage for over 20 years of my career, which has spanned over 30 years,” said Graham Vorster, Founder and Owner of Black Swan Technologies who will be a speaker at the event.

Lee Syse, Lead Cloud Solution Architect, Cloud Providers. VMware said, “I will be shedding light on key trends I see across Sub-Saharan Africa and how businesses can make cloud adoption a reality.”
This serves as a perfect opportunity for VMware to shed light on its broader strategy as well as a focused product session. The forum will feature technical, customer, and thought leader tracks, offering examples of how VMware can support organisations in this complex multi-cloud world. It will also provide opportunities to network with professionals from across different industries. Previously vFORUM has drawn a huge turnout, so much so, that the industry has continued to request it for the years it has not run.
The event serves as a perfect opportunity for VMware to shed light on its broader strategy as well as insights into some of its products. It will be a great forum for technical staff as well as IT leaders to get ideas on how VMware can support them in a complex multi-cloud world and get a chance to network with professionals from across different industries.
“I am working with multiple VMware cloud providers in East Africa in building out a cloud provider business. I am seeing massive investments being made in infrastructure, skills, and aggressive service catalogues. This signals maturity in organisations to adopt a cloud operating model for IT. It is an exciting time as cloud adoption is on the rise in East Africa,” concluded Syse.
