UniCloud Africa Launches Localized Cloud Solution In Lagos
Cloud services provider, Unicloud Africa Limited, has launched its operations at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The launch was centered on the ‘One Cloud, One Africa’ philosophy signaling a focused effort to provide a truly sovereign, interconnected cloud solution.
“For years, African businesses have contended with the operational friction of hosting data outside the continent. This dependence often results in high data latency, increased operational costs due to foreign exchange volatility, and growing concerns over data sovereignty and regulatory compliance,” said Ladi Okuneye, CEO, Unicloud Africa.
UniCloud Africa is positioning itself as the critical answer to these issues, enabling African enterprises to scale operations locally and efficiently. The need for a localized, high-performance digital backbone is underscored by the immense growth in data traffic across the continent, particularly in Nigeria. As Africa’s largest economy and most populous nation, Nigeria is a bellwether for the continent’s digital future.

During the launch event, Okuneye articulated the company’s vision saying that they are not just offering cloud services, they are offering digital sovereignty.
UniCloud Africa’s offering goes beyond the foundational Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). A key highlight of the launch was the demonstration of the UCA CRM, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) application. This showcase underscored the company’s commitment to delivering ready-to-deploy business solutions, helping enterprises digitize customer interactions on robust, locally supported infrastructure.
The event featured influential voices from the Nigerian tech ecosystem who stressed the collaborative nature of this digital transformation. Dr. Ayotunde Coker, CEO of OADC, emphasized the necessity of secure, high-capacity data centers to support the new cloud model, while Muhammed Rudman, CEO of IXPN, highlighted the critical role of localized internet exchange points in keeping data traffic domestic, directly mitigating latency issues caused by routing data through foreign servers.

UniCloud Africa is not limiting its focus to Nigeria as the company has already established offices in Kenya and South Africa as well, positioning itself to serve three of the continent’s most vibrant technology hubs.
The company’s strategic roadmap includes aggressive expansion into other regions in Africa, aiming to build a seamless, interconnected network of cloud services across the continent. This pan-African approach is designed to provide a consistent, high-quality cloud experience for multinational and regional businesses operating across multiple African countries.
