After graduating from Maseno University in 2012, I joined a security printing company in Thika as the ICT Assistant Manager. In 2017, I transitioned to freelancing, where I worked extensively on website design and web application development, primarily hosting solutions on traditional web hosting platforms. My career took a significant turn in late 2020 when a client approached me to re-platform their Ruby on Rails-based social media application to a PHP framework and migrate the hosting to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
At the time, I had minimal experience with GCP, so I leveraged the expertise of a certified GCP Solutions Architect and online mentorship platforms like Codementor. The complexity of this project necessitated substantial “learning on the job,” which allowed me to gain insights into cloud computing architectures and the nuances of modern application hosting.

The challenge lay in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge of machine learning, such as model training, hyperparameter optimization, and feature engineering and the hands-on application of these concepts within the AWS ecosystem.
