Forcepoint, a leading cyber security solution provider in Africa company has joined an array of corporate sponsors yearning to successfully co-host the forthcoming 2017 East Africa CIO 100 Symposium and Awards.
Lauding the timely sponsorship, Ms. Laura Chite, Chief Executive CIO East Africa said Forcepoint’s support is timely as it goes a long way in hosting an average of 200 CIO delegates from East Africa who are eager to review the year and indulge on how to better the digital transformation process.
The CIO 100 Symposium speaks directly to the reality of how IT organizations everywhere are evolving and where CIOs are concentrating their resources to take advantage of future opportunities, added Chite.

“We are delighted to be associated with the forthcoming East Africa CIO 100 Symposium scheduled from 8th – 10th November. For decades enterprises focused on securing valuable data and IP by building “walls and Moats” to keep bad actors and adversaries at bay, yet Cyber Breaches continue to proliferate …. The threat landscape becomes even more complex, as perimeters effectively evaporates during evolutions like cloud and mobility,” said Christo Van Staden, Regional Manager Sub Saharan Africa.
The real question to ask: “Is the real problem weak or disappearing parameters, or is it the need for better visibility and understanding into how, when and why people; whether it be, staff, partners, contractors, customers OR in fact compromised or malicious users, interact with critical data – wherever that data may travel. And the human point of interaction with the critical data can undermine the best designed cyber security systems in a single act. This human point is where biz critical data and IP is most valuable and most vulnerable.” asserted Van Staden,
For more than 30 years, Forcepoint’s experts have helped a wide range of companies, governments and agencies to create custom services to address their most pressing issues bordering on cybersecurity, said Van Staden a well-established Information Security Specialist figure in Africa.

Van Staden expected to make a presentation during at the Symposium asserts that the 2017 state of cyber security indicate that the industry has reached a tipping point. Over the past few years, cybersecurity records show that investments have been met with an onslaught of data breaches led by a dramatic rise in insider-related incidents.
“We’ve keenly observed that CIO’s executive role has become fundamental in business strategy,” said Ms. Laura Chite, chief executive of CIO East Africa adding: “Digital leaders are now taking the steps to become strategic business partners as more CIOs uphold collaboration as a crucial way forward of intersecting the gaps between IT and businesses.
