Seedstars world, part of the Swiss group Seedstars which runs the global startup competition, is slated to be in Nairobi on Nov 10th at the Nailab.
Seedstars world will be in Nairobi as part of their local competitions where they identify the best seed-stage startups.
“With Nairobi being a giant hub for tech, we are calling out to all start-ups to apply,” reads a press statement from Seedstars world.

“The 10 best startups from Kenya will be invited to pitch in front of an investment panel and compete to be crowned the most promising seed-stage startup of Seedstars Nairobi 2017,” the statement added.
The winning startup will join the global Seedstars Family and take part in the regional and global Seedstars Summits that include Seedstars bootcamp and investor forum. It’s a catalytic platform for high growth emerging market startups.
“In addition to seeing the top startups pitch, startups can look forward to an event filled with disruptive tech, inspirational discussions, networking sessions and one flight ticket for the winner to come to Switzerland to compete for over $1mn in investment,” the statement continued.

Competition format
After the local competition, seedstars then manages 5 Regional Summits, where they bring all Seedstars World winners of each region, as well as speakers, investors, corporates, incubators, accelerators, governments and relevant stakeholders to one city to build bridges between regional ecosystems and discuss regional challenges.
The competition’s final happens in the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland, an event filled with breakout sessions, panel discussions, specialized workshops and the best minds from emerging markets, where the local winners compete to be crowned the Seedstars World Global Winner.
For startups to participate in Seedstars competition, all they need is to be less than 2 years old, received less than $500k in funding, have a minimum viable product ideally without any previous traction and be scalable regionally and globally.
