Second Edition Of HerNovation Convention To Celebrate Women in Tech Confirmed

The HerNovation Convention is back!

CIO Africa will once again hold the annual event to celebrate women in tech who have accomplished the unimaginable in the industry. The virtual event will be held on 17 November 2021 prior to #CIO100Awards.

Themed The Broken Rung: Why It Is Prevalent In Women In IT, the HerNovation Convention builds on last year’s success. The powerful attendees can attest to how crucial it was when it came to inspiring and empowering women in tech as well as those aspiring to get into tech. HerNovation is a movement captured in an event. It has multiple missions. Top on the list is to encourage women to step into positions of seniority with regard to leadership. The initiative focuses on four primary areas as a call to action: education, entrepreneurship, social inclusion, and science and innovation.

The HerNovation Convention will bring together both women and men who support the rise of women. The HerNovation agenda will look into the broken rung, that broken step on the ladder to success that disables women even before they start their journey to the top. A trip that begins when women miss their first promotion within the first three years of their career. Discussions will look into work-life integration, professionalism in the workplace, right down to whether women invest more in things than they do self-empowerment. HerNovation has through its purpose to develop its members, created an ecosystem of networks where women in tech can share insight, experiences and values.

Last year’s keynote speaker, Kate McBride, the Chief of IT Services at UNON said that “When women out here show the world we actually exist and are doing things, then what that does, it provides avenues for us to support other women. Looking forward to the next event.”

The HerNovation Convention will be a free virtual event which means as many women as it is humanly possible will be tuning in to commiserate with each other.
