Samsung recently unveiled two new wearables targeted towards sports enthusiasts and other fitness-minded individuals. The Samsung Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Fit e.
The headline feature of the two devices is the automatic tracking for fitness activities of the users, as long as they choose the desired activity on the smartphone’s Samsung Health app beforehand. Furthermore, the Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Fit e also helps users track their stress levels throughout the day, and the two fitness bands also offer enhanced sleep analysis.
The devices also feature 5ATM water resistance certification, which means that users may submerge the Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Fit e for a short period of time in shallow water without damaging its components, meanwhile, the two wearables can also withstand a variety of extreme environments, as evidenced by MIL STD 810G certification of both devices.

However, the Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Fit e also offer other useful features in addition to tracking the fitness activities and stress levels of the user. For example, the wearables can show messages and alerts synced from the smartphone of the user, and it may also display alarms, calendar details, and weather information. Meanwhile, the dual-clock watch face feature of the Galaxy Fit devices may prove useful to travelers who want to track the time in different locations.
While both wearables feature a similar set of features, the Galaxy Fit and the Fit e differ significantly in terms of hardware. The Galaxy Fit sports a larger 0.95-inch full-color AMOLED display, while the Galaxy Fit e features a smaller 0.74-inch Passive Matrix OLED (PMOLED) display. The smaller display of the Galaxy Fit e also means that this wearable has smaller dimensions and lighter weight compared to the Galaxy Fit. The smaller frame of the Galaxy Fit e also means that the device will have a reduced battery capacity, measured at 70mAh, compared to the 120mAh power pack of the Galaxy Fit.
While the Galaxy Fit features wireless charging, the Galaxy Fit e includes POGO pins that the user must align correctly with the pins on the charger before the wearable could top up. The Galaxy Fit e also features heart rate monitor and accelerometer, while the Galaxy Fit also includes a gyroscope. The lack of a gyroscope may have prevented Samsung from incorporating more features to the Galaxy Fit e, an example of which is the automatic tracking of rowing machines and elliptical trainer activities, which is available on the Galaxy Fit.

Both devices are compatible with handsets that run Android 5.0 Lollipop and newer and sport 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy Fit will be available in two color variants; black and silver, while Samsung will sell three color models of the Galaxy Fit e, black, white, and yellow.
The Galaxy Fit serves as the company’s re-entry to the niche segment, after the South Korean tech giant released the Gear Fit2 Pro back in 2017. Aside from the Galaxy Fit, Samsung also unveiled other wearables during its Galaxy Unpacked event, which include the Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Watch Active.
Samsung did not provide the pricing for its latest fitness bands, although, given the differences in the specifications of the two devices, it is likely that the Galaxy Fit e will have a lower price tag compared to the more feature-packed Galaxy Fit.
