#OracleDigitalDay: Oracle’s Vision 2025

During the Oracle Digital Day, Cherian Varghese, Sub Saharan Africa Lead- Oracle stated three predictions of Oracle’s Vision 2025 majoring on Cloud.

PREDICTION 1

By 2025, 80% of IT budgets will be spent on Cloud, not traditional IT systems.

Almost all new applications will be SaaS applications

100% of Dev/Test will move to the Cloud

Spending in Cloud infrastructure will grow rapidly every year through 2025.

Enterprise Cloud will be the most secure IT.

PREDICTION 2

By 2025 80% of IT spend will be on cloud and the number of corporate-owned datacenters will drop by 80%.

By 2025, the number of corporate-owned data centers will drop by 80%.

Data centers will decline symmetrically as workloads move to the Cloud.

This will facilitate the flip of the budget from maintenance to innovation

PREDICTION 3

If all this happens by 2025, CIOs will spend 80% of their IT budgets on innovation, not maintenance.

Cloud providers take on the cost and complexity.

Cloud solutions re-engineer the economics of IT.

New ways to innovate to gain share, engage customers, bring new products to market, grow revenue.

“The predictions were stated by our CEO Mark Hurd and that they would happen by 2025 but I believe that, that is not the case. In my opinion the predictions will happen much earlier may be by 2020,” Cherian stated.
