NITDA Assumes Control Of NGEA Infrastructure
Nigeria has advanced its digital governance agenda after the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) formally took over the Nigeria Government Enterprise Architecture (NGEA) infrastructure during a handover ceremony in Abuja.
The transition, carried out in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), marks a key milestone in implementing Nigeria’s e-Government Masterplan 2.0 (Ne-GMP 2.0), aimed at strengthening public sector efficiency through coordinated digital systems.
NITDA is assuming control of the NGEA platform to ensure a more structured and strategic approach to IT investments and information resource management across government institutions. The framework is designed to align digital initiatives with national priorities while improving service delivery.

The development of the NGEA has taken place over the past two and a half years through collaboration between Nigerian technical teams and Korean experts. Pilot programmes have already been implemented in key agencies, including the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and NITDA.
With the system now operational, government platforms will be designed for interoperability, enabling seamless data exchange across ministries, departments, and agencies. This is expected to reduce duplication, enhance risk management, and translate policy into executable digital outcomes.
The NGEA infrastructure is hosted by Galaxy Backbone Limited, providing a secure and resilient environment for its deployment.

Going forward, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy will provide policy direction and strategic oversight, while NITDA works with stakeholders to scale adoption and ensure long-term sustainability of the system nationwide.
