MTN South Africa Undergoes Leadership Overhaul
MTN Group has announced sweeping leadership changes at MTN South Africa (MTN SA), appointing Ferdi Moolman as CEO and Executive Director effective 1 November 2025.
Moolman, a former CEO of MTN Nigeria, succeeds Charles Molapisi and is tasked with accelerating growth and strengthening returns in South Africa.
“These leadership changes illustrate the depth of talent and experience we have across the Group. The changes will support the accelerated execution of our strategy beyond 2025 as well as greater value creation for stakeholders over the medium term,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO.

Alongside Moolman, Yolanda Cuba has been named Deputy CEO and Executive Director of MTN SA, moving from her role as Vice President for Southern and East Africa. Together, the duo will lead MTN SA’s renewed focus on performance and market leadership.
In governance changes, Sindisiwe (Sindi) Mabaso-Koyana will assume the role of Chairperson of MTN SA in Q1 2026, taking over from Mike Harper, who retires after a decade of service.
At Group level, MTN is sharpening its strategy beyond Ambition 2025, consolidating around Connectivity, Fintech, and Digital Infrastructure. The changes include:

- Charles Molapisi returning to the Group Exco as Chief Technology and Information Officer, with a focus on accelerating AI adoption.
- Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, expanding his remit as VP for Francophone Africa.
- Ebenezer Asante assuming leadership as VP for Ghana, Southern and East Africa.
- Mazen Mroué focusing on Digital Infrastructure growth, including fibre, data centres, and satellite partnerships.
- Selorm Adadevoh becoming Chief Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Officer.
These appointments mark the most significant leadership shift at MTN SA in recent years and underscore the Group’s intent to reinforce its largest market.
