The third edition of the Nairobi Tech Week (NTW) will be held from April 19-21, 2018.
The tech event held annually is Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest tech event for product makers and aims at bringing the various actors and influencers of the tech ecosystem to one space and exhibit the forefront of innovation and technology.
Powered by Moringa School, Tech Week primarily focuses on the tech makers, such as developers, designers, data scientists, engineering managers and more. In an events and conference environment generally focused on entrepreneurs, NTW takes a new spin with a focus on the people who build tech products behind the scenes. TMoringa school will hold this year’s NTW at Strathmore University, with Microsoft as the title sponsor.

“Moringa School is excited to host the third edition of NTW and ensure the event continues to be community-driven with an agenda people actually want and will engage in.” says Sandra Mukidza, NTW’s main organizer.
“Last year, Nairobi Tech Week was an incredible success. This year, with the support of our partners, industry players and sponsors, we hope to attract more participants.” Mukidza continued.
Applications open on March 19th
Applications and nominations for the Nairobi Tech Week will open on March 19th. The event plans to award participants in the following categories: impact stories, idea generation and Tech Makers.
This year’s agenda includes 3 days of workshops, panels and hackathons. Day one is packed with hands-on workshops for developers and designers to sharpen their skills. Day two kicks off a two-day hackathon where developers stand a chance at winning incredible prizes. Days two and three include more workshops and panels for those who aren’t participating in the hackathon. Leading developers, designers and data scientists will run the workshops, exposing attendees to world-class talent and skills.

NTW has grown tremendously over the years. In the inaugural 2016, the event hosted 450+ attendees, and in 2017, there were 750+ ticket holders. In 2018, there will be a minimum of 800 attendees for the 3-day event. Sponsors for this year’s NTW include Microsoft (title sponsor), iBizAfrica, Visa, JUMO, Safaricom, Github, and Liquid Telecom.
Partners include iHub, Africa’s Talking, Swahili Box M-Power CBO and Metta. In previous years, NTW has had global title sponsors including Facebook and Twitter – and in 2018, Microsoft will be serving as the title sponsor to truly merge the global with the local.
