Miguel Heilbron has announced that he is set to step down as Director of Outreach for VC4Africa within the week, after three years of service.
Mr. Heilbron announced the news to his friends and colleagues via an email sent out on Thursday, where he sights the reasons for his departure as being the pursuit of higher education.
“As some of you may know I’m in my last days at VC4Africa, after three great years. I have enjoyed working with you all, thank you for that! I’m currently working on a proposal for PhD research on the contributions of African innovative startups to the many transitions Africa is currently going through, and the coming months I’ll also focus on freelance assignments.” The email read.

As Director of Outreach at VC4Africa, Miguel Heilbron managed the content development and outreach for VC4Africa. Miguel Heilbron is an economist and connector and has work experience in Europe, Africa, North and South America and Asia, partly as a researcher, consultant, vision developer, writer and trainer.
Trained as a development economist and building engineer, Miguel Heilbron has diverse work experience from jobs, projects & research assignments in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas, for various organisations.
Apart from the work he did as the Director of Outreach at VC4Africa, Miguel is occasionally independently contracted for research, writing, presentation, concept development and other jobs though his business Worldwide Perspectives.

He was ranked as one of 100 ‘most innovative and inspiring young people in the field of sustainability in The Netherlands’ (DJ100 / Dutch Sustainable Youth Top 100 list), and awarded by the Dutch Oxfam organisation with a runner-up Top 3 position in their national Dutch ‘Simon Jelsma Award’ for new generations innovation in the development sector.
