Marion Gathoga Exits BOC Kenya For South Africa’s Afrox
BOC Kenya Managing Director Marion Gathoga-Mwangi is set to exit the Company this month to assume an executive role as Director, Healthcare Business at South Africa’s gas and welding products maker African Oxygen Limited (Afrox).
Gathoga will exit the medical and industrial gas manufacturer on December 31 after serving for 5 years as its Managing Director. Both BOC Kenya and Afrox are subsidiaries of Linde Group, a global supplier of industrial, process and speciality gases.
While announcing the changes, BOC Kenya said Arthur Kamau, the Finance Director will now be its acting Managing Director.

The board praised Gathoga for, “Introducing a can-do culture to drive a sustainable turnaround strategy, change management that reflects customer needs, increased governance and the establishment of a strong healthcare business.”
They credited her for successfully implementing Kaizen (continuous improvement) initiatives under the sustainable development goals and developing strong links with key stakeholders and industry associations.
The chairman and the board of BOC thanked Gathoga for her impactful contribution to BOC and wished her the very best in her new role with Afrox.

Gathoga holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in International Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU) Africa. She is an associate member of Women Corporate Directors, Kenya Chapter and Women on Boards Network (WoBN).
