Lipa Later helps Huawei Kenya sell 5000 smartphones in a month

Huawei mobile Kenya announced that they sold 5000 pieces of their Huawei Y7 Prime 2019 in one month. Lipa Later, a credit facility that lets acquire a device of your choice then pay monthly, helped the company achieve this by selling 200 pieces through their hire purchase credit facility.

Lipa Later announced their partnership with Huawei during last month’s launch of the Huawei Y7 Prime 2019, which allowed customers to get the device for monthly payments of Ksh 2,600. Thanks to the success of their initial partnership the two companies have now partnered to allow the same for the newly launched Huawei Y6 2019.

“We have partnered with Huawei yet again to offer the Huawei Y6 2019 on Lipa Later this time the device, which retails at Kshs 13,499, will be available for a payment of kshs 3,600 per month for 12 for six months,” Winnie Nzisa, Lipa Later Account Manager, said. “We are hoping to move as many units of the Y6 as possible through our retail partners. Our target is a minimum of 500 units per month,”

The Huawei Y6 2019 features sleek, rounded curves carefully crafted in the shape of the screen, compared to the many wide rectangle shaped notches currently available in the market.  All purchases will come with a gift hamper that entails selfie stick, foldable bags and Bluetooth speakers or mugs in select stores.

The Huawei Y6 2019 boasts 13MP rear camera that ensures crystal- clear imaging quality with its high resolution, whereas the front camera is 8MP with smarter beautification algorithms.

Speaking at the launch, Steven Li, Head of Eastern Africa Mobile, “Thanks to the enthusiastic support of consumers and partners in Kenya, as well as the demand for quality affordable phones we once again launch another Y series in the Kenyan market; Huawei Y6 2019. We are kicking off the campaign with a pre-order where members of the public are encouraged to pre-order within the two weeks.”

All core components are manufactured by industry-leading suppliers. The model has gone through rigorous testing on multiple dimensions and various levels to ensure excellent quality.” He concluded.

According to Nzisa when purchasing items using Lipa Later, Insurance is mandatory and it covers theft and damages. The company also understands that customers can sometimes miss payments, something which Nzisa says they address by interacting with their clients.

“We engage clients to understand the reason as to why they can’t make payments then once that is clarified, we restructure their repayment plan by extending a longer repayment period and reducing the Installment amount,”

The company, according to Nzisa, is always looking to partner with more electronic brands and retailers and is currently in partnership with: Huawei, Sony Anisuma, Startimes, Game Supermarket, Victoria Courts, Tecno, Oppo, Samsung and Reddington, to name a few.
