LG utilizes IoT to disrupt smart homes

Living in a smart home is a hot topic, and has emerged as one of the defining past half decade, experiencing growth of 57% in the last year alone. The company’s newest technology- The LG Smart Hub Robot has disrupted smart home concept allowing users to control their appliances and utilities at their homes.

It features a circular “face” with a screen displaying eyes – perched atop a softly conical white body and Amazons Alexa’s voice recognition technology hence automatically taking control of the home.

The robot can perform household tasks, sets alarms, create memos, display images of refrigerator content, and provide weather and traffic updates.

LG Smart Hub Robot connects LG’s smart appliances around the house, like the oven, refrigerator, washing machines etc.

It also monitors the daily activities of household members and can even give personalized greetings for each individual family member. For instance, the robot can re-orient itself to face the user and bob along with music it’s playing while remaining stationary. The screen can also display images and videos using some sort of basic web browser.
