Joe Mucheru, Kenya’s ICT Cabinet Secretary has appointed four new members to the Communications Authority board, among them; Laura Chite, CEO, CIO East Africa.
In the Kenya Gazette Notice Number 6657 dated 19th July, 2019, the ICT Secretary while appointing the new CA Board members for three year with effect from 18th July, 2019 excercised the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (e) of the Kenya Information and Communications Act.
Being the new lady in the CA Board, Chite joins Mahmoud Mohamed Noor, Paul Muraguri Mureithi, Jackson Kiprotich Kemboi.

Laura has over 22 years working experience in the IT industry ranging from Human Resource to Public Relations, Events Management to Sales and Marketing. She’s a proven asset, more especially in this era of digital transformation that is now everywhere on the agendas of corporate boards that have risen to the top of CEOs’ strategic plans.
At CIO East Africa, Laura is responsible for driving the company’s transformation by leveraging the publishing of CIO East Africa both on print and online portal to strategically position and collaborate with industry players yearning to digitally transform their enterprises. To this effect, she organizes focused top-tier corporate roundtables as well as quarterly summits inclined to sharing insights on the new disruptive technologies ranging from big data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, Fintech and Internet of Things (IoT) among others.
As a champion of corporate networking on matters digital transformation, she has made immense contributions in the sector. Through annual CIO 100 Survey, she oversees the evaluation of entities impacting communities as they embrace technology as an enabler. The top 100 non-tech vendor companies are recognized and their tech-teams are celebrated. To this effect, Laura has from time to time been co-opted to adjudicate various regional awards in Africa among them being the Thomson Reuters, recently rebranded Refinitive – Customer Excellence Awards.

Following her quest of not just talking of wanting to do something fulfilling, she has actively chaired various digital transformation summit advisory boards besides getting involved as a moderator and panelists in diverse East Africa speaking sessions.
Among the sessions that Laura has moderated range from Transform Africa, World AI Show, Blockchain Summit and the East CIO Breakfast Series. She has as well delivered inspiring keynotes since being the founder member of HerNovation – a Women in Technology platform organized by Kommunication Ultimate the publishers of CIO East Africa.
Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from Egerton University, Kenya, she’s emerged as a long-time influencer passionate about thought-leadership and zealous on her thematic goal of demystifying technology to make it more accessible to even the average person and businesses.
