The Kenyan Government will fund various projects including wastewater plant and various design guidelines, roads, security access and KoTDA offices to a tune of an estimated Sh52.2 billion and about Sh 595.8 billion to ensure the Konza Technology City is completed.
Eng. Tanui said the Sh43.2 billion meant to finance ICT network, electricity and water distribution will be sourced from the Private sector through private public partnerships while the remaining Sh500.4 billion will come from direct private investments.
“Konza is expected to spur massive trade and create thousands of employment opportunities for young Kenyans in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector,” Eng Tanui told the ICT Cabinet Secretary John Mucheru when he recently toured KoTDA offices located at Westlands in Nairobi.

It is expected that the ‘Silicon Savannah’ will generate more than 200,000 new jobs and contribute 10 per cent to the Gross National Product (GDP) once it becomes fully operational by 2030.
According to Eng John Tanui, the IT City will have technology and research universities, schools, hospitals, computer software and hardware manufacturing industries, leisure and entertainment amenities among others.
Konza Technopolis City is located 50 kilometers from Jomo Kenyatta Airport (JKIA) on the Nairobi – Mombasa highway.
Eng Tanui said the Techno City will prop up Kenya’s knowledge-based industries while providing world-class infrastructure, education and research facilities that create technology enabled business innovations in the country. “The City will have a vibrant mix of businesses, workers, residents, science and technology and urban amenities,” he observed.
