Nyamira County’s health services department has taken steps towards automation with the acquisition of a new telemedicine machine.
“Nyamira county health services department has signed a deal with GlobalMed company to acquire a new telemedicine machine that will see access to services simplified and easily accessible to rural and interior residents in Nyamira,” read a post on the County’s official website.
Speaking during the signing of the M.o.U with Governor John Nyagarama in the county offices, the company’s chief commercial officer, Manoel Coelho, said the machine which has been tested and approved in most of the European countries will see the quality of life improve in the entire country and county and reduce death among the residents due to inaccessibility to medical centres for timely treatment.

“Telemedicine compared to other machines like computerised tomography scan machine (CT scan) will reduce the costs of medicare and hence improve the quality of life among the residents,” said Coelho.
Manoel further congratulated the county for taking such a bold step in healthcare as he noted Nyamira was the first one in the Kenya to acquire the telemedicine machines in East Africa after Nigeria. He was confident in the accuracy of the machines.
“I am happy for embracing technology in improving the healthcare sector and telemedicine is the way to go if we must succeed in providing affordable and accessible medicare to our people it will save us a lot of hustle,” said Coelho.

The machine is able to offer over 40 services of various ailments.
