Ken Ogwang of East African breweries Ltd Takes 2016 CIO of the Year Award – #CIO100AwardsEA

East African Breweries Ltd (EABL)’s Head of IT Kenneth Ogwang is the CIO of the year Award winner in the 2016 CIO100 Awards.

The annual CIO100 Awards ceremony was preceded by a two-day’s symposium attended by more than 400 senior IT and business executives who congregated to learn, share knowledge and recognize their peers who have performed well.

According to Mr. Sam Gicharu the CEO of Insight Wells – the company that conducted the survey from which winners were drawn, EABL took the winners accolade because of its brilliantly implemented a Distributor management System (DMS), a sales force solution that automates the distributor activities and enables the performance tracking of its entire sales force.

“The DMS solution, a cloud based solution, allows accessibility by the head office and gives master data management, reporting among other functionalities. The DMS also has a back office module used by distributors offering. This system has enhanced synergy across distributors and internal sales staff,” Gicharu told the congregation in Naivasha shortly before the winners were announced.

The East Africa CIO100 Awards began over 6 years ago and evolved through a need to recognise and celebrate creativity, innovation and those pushing the bounds of creative excellence in all forms of emerging technologies.

More than 600 companies from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia participated in this year’s CIO100 competition, with entries from all the economic verticals including Education, Health, Logistics, Banking and Financial Services, Insurance and Agriculture.

“This year’s CIO100  again brought together  Business Technology CXOs from the East African Region in what was two days of peer learning on the latest industry trends and also provided a platform to recognize the CIOs who have exceled in delivering successful projects within their individual Organisations  this year ,” said CIO East Africa Director Andrew Karanja.
