Inua Dada Foundation was started by Citizen TV’s News Anchor Janet Mbugua on 31st October 2013 to address the plight of primary school girls in Kenya who have no access to sanitary towels in a collaborative effort with Royal Media Services (RMS).
Inua Dada sanitary towel distribution drive was subsequently launched by the First Lady of Kenya, Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta on 7th November 2013 at Labos Primary and thousands of school girls in Baringo County.
Since the launch of the sanitary towel distribution drive by the First Lady of Kenya, Inua Dada Foundation has continued to collaborate with Partners in the public and private sector to ensure that primary school girls of menstruating age are receiving menstrual health management education and sanitary towels so that they can be able to attend and complete school successfully. The foundation also looks into empowering the young girls with the rightful skills and for the first time, the girls will be taken though the 13 week app development, to equip them with the right IT skills.
