Instagram Initiates Security Check Up For Recently Compromised Accounts
Instagram, one of the world’s most popular social networking platforms, is driving the matter of security in a purposeful way. The social media giant has announced an important security feature that would help users recover their hacked accounts.
The Facebook-owned photo-sharing app has launched Security Checkup to guide people whose accounts may have been hacked. Instagram has included a number of steps such as checking login activity, reviewing profile information, confirming the accounts that share login information and more to help people secure their accounts.
Instagram is also planning to add support for two-factor authentication through WhatsApp, in addition to its current options of phone numbers and authenticator apps. The streamlined security feature is rolling out in the middle of a recent wave of password reset emails that have been cluttering some people’s inboxes.

Instagram has also urged users to enable login requests as enabling that would let users know if someone is trying to access their account. The alerts will tell you about the location and the name of the device that may have tried to log in to your accounts. If you do not recognize a recent login, you can log out of that location or device and let Instagram know that the login wasn’t you.
