Innovating In The Cloud With AWS

Amazon Web Services offers flexible, reliable, scalable, easy-to-use, and cost-effective cloud computing solutions and is considered the most simplistic form of cloud platform that allows for innovation once onboarded.

During his keynote address at the virtual East Africa Cloud and Security Summit, Shadrack Anyuo the Solution Architect Lead (E/Africa) at AWS noted that the AWS Cloud encourages innovation and is user-friendly.

“AWS is a comprehensive, easy to use computing platform, that offers reliable, scalable, and inexpensive cloud computing services,” he said. Adding, “The platform encourages innovation.”

AWS’s resizable compute capacity in the Cloud offers 750 hours per month of Linux, RHEL, or SLES t2.micro or t3.micro instance of compute dependent on the region with a secure, durable, and scalable object storage infrastructure of up to 5 GB.

Cloud computing, as enabled by AWS, takes away the need for large upfront investments in hardware and time on the heavy lifting of managing that hardware. It enables organisations to provision exactly the right type and size of computing resources needed to power operations.

Cloud computing allows for access to as many resources as one needs, almost instantly, and on pay-as-you-use basis so there is value for every spend.

AWS in a White Paper states, “Cloud computing provides a simple way to access servers, storage, databases and a broad set of application services over the Internet. A cloud services platform such as Amazon Web Services owns and maintains the network-connected hardware required for these application services, while you provision and use what you need via a web application.”

The document further elaborates that whether running applications that share photos to millions of mobile users or just supporting the critical operations of the business, a cloud services platform provides rapid access to flexible and low-cost IT resources.
