Watson for Cyber Security is a new cloud-based version of IBM’s cognitive technology trained on the language of security as part of a year-long research project which will revolutionise data security for telcos and banks.
IBM announced in May that it was collaborating with eight universities to greatly expand the collection of security data that the company has trained the cognitive system with.

The universities include: California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; Pennsylvania State University; Massachusetts Institute of Technology; New York University; the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC); the University of New Brunswick; the University of Ottawa and the University of Waterloo.
Mr. Alex Kioni also stated, “The new era of security was Cloud, Collaboration and Cognitive where IBM Security is the new era for computing.”
A new cloud-based version of IBM’s cognitive analytics solution using core Watson technology trained in the language of security to help analysts gain more precision and accuracy in stopping cyber-attacks.

The world produces more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of data everyday and 80 percent of it is unstructured. This means it’s expressed in natural language – spoken, written or visual, – that a human can easily understand, but traditional security systems can’t.
