How TeKnowledge Is Advancing Women’s Leadership In The Age Of AI
Across industries, leadership is being reshaped by an era defined by rapid technological advancement and constant disruption. Artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and shifting economic realities are redefining how organizations operate and compete. Yet while much of the conversation focuses on technology itself, a deeper reality is emerging: the success of this transformation will depend not only on innovation, but on leadership — and the diversity of perspectives guiding it.
Recognizing this shift, TeKnowledge recently convened senior women leaders in Lagos for its Executive Women in Leadership Session, a gathering designed to explore how leaders are navigating change while shaping the future of their organizations.
The session brought together executives from technology, financial services, consulting, and industry alongside partners Microsoft and Uzemi Africa. Structured as an executive dialogue rather than a traditional conference, the event encouraged candid conversations about leadership, resilience, and navigating uncertainty.

Advancing women in leadership aligns closely with TeKnowledge’s core values, reflecting a commitment to strengthening leadership capability and fostering diverse perspectives within industries undergoing rapid transformation.
Leading Through Change
A highlight of the event was the panel discussion “Leading Through Change: Stories of Resilience, Adaptability and Innovation.” The panel featured Ola Williams, Chief Growth and AI Officer for Microsoft Middle East and Africa; Ifeoluwa Ayoade, Vice President at Zest Payments; and Oluwatomisin Mordi, Country HR Manager for Nigeria at TeKnowledge.
Rather than focusing on theory, the conversation centered on real leadership experiences. Panelists reflected on moments of disruption that required them to rethink how they guided their teams and organizations. A recurring insight from the discussion was that resilience in leadership is built through experience, particularly when leaders must make decisions amid uncertainty. Another key theme was influence. In complex organizations, leadership is increasingly defined not simply by authority, but by the ability to build trust and align stakeholders around a shared direction.

“Resilient leadership requires clarity of purpose combined with the flexibility to adapt.”
Purpose as a Leadership Anchor
The conversation was further deepened through a leadership masterclass delivered by Dr. Nefi Wole Abu, Co-Founder and Principal Consultant at Lane Consulting, who explored the role of purpose in leadership.
“Purpose is not a value statement on a wall. It is far more than that — it is something operational. It becomes a decision-making filter, a source of personal resilience, and a rallying point for teams under pressure.” Her remarks highlighted how leaders rely on purpose to guide decision-making and maintain consistency during periods of change.

Networks as Leadership Capital
Another perspective came from Mrs. Adeola Azeez, Partner and West Africa Representative at Sigma Risk and a founding member of WIMBIZ, who emphasized the importance of professional networks. According to Azeez, a leader’s network often becomes their most valuable professional asset. Relationships across industries create opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and shared learning — particularly important for women leaders navigating complex environments.
Leadership and the AI Transformation
The leadership session coincided with the expansion of the partnership between TeKnowledge and Microsoft under the AI National Skilling Initiative in Nigeria, a program focused on strengthening national capability in artificial intelligence. The initiative has already reached more than 50,000 Nigerians through AI learning programs, while over 3,000 participants have completed advanced training and earned Microsoft AI certifications.
Yet as several leaders noted during the session, technological transformation requires more than technical capability. Organizations must also build the leadership capacity needed to guide teams through change and harness emerging technologies responsibly.
Strengthening the Leadership Ecosystem
The Executive Women in Leadership Session reflects TeKnowledge’ s broader commitment to strengthening leadership capability while advancing opportunities for women across industries. The program is expected to continue as a recurring initiative, bringing together women leaders to exchange insights, strengthen networks, and support the next generation of leadership. By creating platforms for dialogue and mentorship, TeKnowledge is contributing to stronger leadership ecosystems across industries.
The Road Ahead
Nigeria stands at a pivotal moment in its digital evolution. With a young population and a rapidly expanding technology ecosystem, the country has the potential to play a defining role in Africa’s digital future. Realizing that opportunity will require investment in skills, innovation, and leadership capability.
Initiatives such as the Microsoft AI National Skilling Initiative and leadership platforms like the Executive Women in Leadership Session demonstrate how organizations like TeKnowledge are helping build both the technical and leadership foundations required for the future.
Technology may shape the future of work. But ultimately, it will be leaders — guided by purpose, strengthened by networks, and equipped with resilience — who determine how successfully organizations navigate the journey ahead.
