Safaricom, Airtel fail to agree on a deal over trademark dispute
Safaricom and Airtel Kenya on Wednesday told Justice Francis Gikonyo that the out-of-court settlement that they were pursuing had failed and that they were willing to have the dispute resolved by the court. In the dispute, Safaricom claims Airtel Kenya is using a trademark identical to its M-Pesa logo.

Safaricom launches internet-ready commercial, residential addresses initiative

Safaricom has announced that it will be partnering with real estate developers in an initiative that will see the launch of new smart and internet ready addresses in different parts of the country. Under the initiative that will be spearheaded by its enterprise arm; Safaricom Business, the integrated communications solutions provider will invest in fiber and all other infrastructure to smart addresses, with the facility owners only required to pay for internet bandwidth.
Top US cloud computing firm enters Kenya
Salesforce, has entered Kenya through a partnership with a local company Blue Consulting to offer financial solutions using cloud computing platform for transactions. It is targeting banks, insurance companies and even the government in sale of the software as institutions seek more advanced systems for transacting business.

Twitter verifies Kenya government’s official newsroom account
Nexus’ official twitter account has been Verified, Nexus is the Kenyan Government’s official news room. The announcement was made via a tweet posted on the Nexus twitter account. This means that the account will now have a blue verified badge on their Twitter profile right of the profile name.
Orange rolls out 3G network in Kajiado County
Orange has unveiled its 3G network in Kajiado County today. The company has so far rolled out 41 new 3G sites across the country as it looks to expand its data coverage in the country. According to Vincent Lobry, Orange Telkom CEO, the rollout has seen the company’s subscriber base and revenue grow significantly.
