General Motors has confirmed it is working on an all-electric pickup. Earlier reports suggested this EV truck would also relaunch GM’s now-defunct Hummer brand, and as it turns out, those rumours were correct.
Ahead of its big debut, the Hummer EV is already throwing down some impressive numbers. According to a statement by GMC, “the electric pickup truck will produce 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque and be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds.”
It is understood that Hummer’s motivation behind creating such a vehicle, is to play a part in the wave of cutting edge designs encompassing the planet. It serves the purpose of allowing for greater emission numbers and top performance. Meaning, a happier, healthier, greener planet, and of course, happy clients.

First revealed in a Super Bowl ad, a very clear look at the Hummer EV shows its front we admit, which looks rather menacing. Naturally, the grille lights up, and vertical lights do a dance before the H-shaped LED headlights fully illuminate. Perhaps these indicate the level of charge when the truck is plugged in.
The Hummer EV will go on sale in the Fall 2021, and will be produced at the company’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which was kept open as part of the UAW’s recent labour contract negotiations. GM clarifies that the Hamtramck plant that in the past used to produce the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, will go on to only produce electric vehicles.
