Dr Cathy Mwangi moves from CDC Foundation to mHealth Kenya as CEO, Principal Investigator

Dr Cathy Mwangi has been appointed CEO and Principal Investigator of mHealth Kenya, a mobile health technologies and solutions provider.
Prior to joining, mHealth Kenya, Dr Mwangi, had been working with CDC Foundation as the Country Director for more than 4 years.
Dr Mwangi made the announcement of her appointment through an email sent to various people, her writings, on the email, echoed her happiness to be accepting her new post.

“My time has come to an end. It has been a great journey. CDC Foundation team introduced me to public health and mHealth initiatives and it has been an exciting journey. During this journey mHealth Kenya was hatched. Today, mHealth Kenya is no longer a chick but a bird that is flying thanks to CDC Foundation and many other supporters including the Ministry of Health and CDC PEPFAR team. I celebrate the maturity of an organization that CDC Foundation groomed to become what it is today,” Dr Mwangi wrote.
Dr Mwangi is also a lecturer at the Strathmore Business School, a post she has held down for one year, since 2014. At present she is also Member of the Board of Directors, Health Strat Kenya, her various posts also helped her win ICT Woman of the Year Award 2014.
“As I transition from my role as the country director of CDC Foundation to CEO and Principal Investigator of mHealth Kenya I am humbled to have been associated with CDC Foundation. mHealth Kenya will continue with the work that CDC Foundation started and we will take the mHealth Projects to scale and provide evidence,” she added.

“Thank you to all that have supported my journey through the successes, challenges and lessons of utilizing mobile technology to improve care and treatment in this country. I hope that this will be the beginning of the next phase when we can show evidence of these implementations. I am looking forward to ongoing partnerships with each and every one of you and with the Ministry of Health and its entities,” she continued.
