Datacom to develop a $22 million IT hub in South Australia to create job opportunities

Datacom to develop a $22 million IT hub in South Australia within the next six months which will provide training and employment opportunities for an economy transitioning from traditional manufacturing.

The IT hub is set to be built in the South Australian capital Adelaide within the TAFE South Australia campus at Tea Tree Gully.

Datacom will be receiving support from the local government which will contribute $5.335 million towards the proposed centre through its Economic Investment Fund.

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill said, “Hundreds of skilled IT jobs will be created at the Tea Tree Gully TAFE South Australian site, with training and work opportunities to be delivered side by side.”

Datacom CEO Jonathan Ladd said the development would contribute to technology development in the region, and was possible due to strong local support.

“Our partnership with TAFE SA will ensure the delivery of an innovative training package which will provide our company with a clear training-to-job pathway for potential new employees, and benefit the state economy as a whole. “These new models of delivery strengthen the ties between education and industry, and provide further new opportunities for young Australians to get ahead in technology,” he added.
