Dan Kwach Ends 19-Year Run At Africa Data Centres
Africa Data Centres’ East African Executive, Dan Kwach, has announced his departure from the organisation after a transformative 19-year journey. In a heartfelt LinkedIn post shared with a video reflecting on his growth, Kwach confirmed he has received “the blessings to exit” as he prepares for a new role outside the Cassava Technologies group.
Kwach’s career has been integral to ADC’s story. Joining at a time when the data centre concept was still unfamiliar in Kenya, he helped design, build, and commercialise the company’s first facilities, turning a technical project into a thriving regional business. “It wasn’t just about building a good data centre,” he once said in an interview with CIO Africa. “It was about making commercial value out of it.”
His IT background, early days at Kenya Data Networks, and exposure to mission-critical infrastructure set the foundation for a leadership role that would shape East Africa’s digital ecosystem. Under his watch, ADC grew into a trusted hub for cloud providers, telcos, and over 60% of Kenya’s banking sector, while driving expansion plans in Nairobi, Kigali, and beyond.

Kwach is widely recognised for a leadership style anchored in humility, integrity, and leading by example. He consistently championed innovation and future readiness, particularly as emerging technologies like AI reshape power and cooling demands. “Let’s be flexible enough that we don’t get disrupted by tomorrow’s technology,” he often emphasised.
In his exit message, Kwach expressed deep gratitude to colleagues, customers, and partners, celebrating the ecosystem they built together and grounding his journey in faith and family. “Nitawamiss (I will miss you) is an understatement,” he wrote. “The world is indeed your oyster.”
His departure marks the close of a significant chapter for ADC and the industry he helped shape, one that moved from early experimentation to anchoring East Africa’s digital future.
