The Mobile World Congress 2015, a combination of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world, is finally here.
Set to run from March 2 – 5, this year the congress will also run Connected Women Summit which is set to explore how the industry can accelerate the female digital economy.
Discussions will draw on the initiatives of the GSMA to bring significant socio-economic opportunities and benefits to women and to the mobile ecosystem.

The Summit will discuss the findings of two new reports offering critical insights into the greater inclusion of women at all points in the mobile industry which will include bridging the Gender Gap with a key focus on mobile access and usage in low- and middle-income countries.
Based on 11,000 surveys, nearly 80 focus group discussions, and interviews with over 120 experts across 11 countries, this report highlights the progress made over the past five years around women’s access and usage of mobile phones (report to be released in partnership with Altai Consulting).
The summit will also focus on Gender diversity in the telecommunications sector: An initial look at the current state of gender diversity in this industry, highlighting best practices and offering strategic advice on how to approach change (report to be released in partnership with A.T. Kearney).

The conference programme will discuss a range of crucial issues, including the socio-economic benefits and opportunities for increasing women’s access to and use of mobile technology, empowering women in the workforce, driving greater female leadership and addressing the global digital skills gap.
Bringing in high level speakers from across the global mobile ecosystem, the event will share new research and insights, showcase practical opportunities for action, and build networks for future development.
