The event, which also celebrates CIO East Africa’s anniversary, had been held at Limuru Golf Club last year. Previously, the tournament was held inNyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya.
“This year will see ICT Professionals who play golf come together to engage further on the exciting IT times we living in. This is a good way to relax, away from the daily office routine. We also have excellent prizes to be won during this year’s tournament,” said Andrew Karanja, Director CIO East Africa.
On her side, Laura Chite, CEO of CIO East Africa said, “ It is always a pleasure to host our vendors and customers in a relaxed forum where they can let loose and socialize away from the work environment.”

The event which is billed as an important inclusion on any tech publisher’s event calendar, brings together, on the golf course; CIOs, IT managers and corporate executives, providing a good platform for them to network and share knowledge among end user, IT professionals and technology providers on trending technologies.
Last year, hundreds of IT professionals participated in CIO East Africa’s golf challenge. Paul Muchangi emerged as the overall winner. The turn out this year is expected to hit approximately 200 executives.
This year’s CIO Golf comes at a time when Karen Country Club will be marking its 80th Anniversary. The Karen Country Club is a family oriented club, founded in 1937 and prides itself in being one of the oldest golf clubs in Kenya. A large part of the 18-hole course was built on the former coffee estate developed by the Danish pioneer Karen Blixen, whose life and times were depicted in the lyrical film `Out of Africa`.
