CIC Insurance Group, has procured an IT software at a cost of Kshs 60 million to efficiently manage its medical business
The software, eOxegen, is enabled by cutting-edge wireless technology that will enable the insurer to manage claims processing, premiums costing and computing business data.
The system is Biometric-ID enabled and allows cloud computing in healthcare, global connectivity and instant access to medical data through mobile and web platforms.

Speaking during the signing of a contract for the supply of the system, CIC Insurance Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tom Gitogo, said it will speed up claims settlements with medical providers and enhance clients’ service through modern customer interface.
“Our medical business has grown immensely and the old system that has been used is unable to support the bulk and nature of data and required for efficient service deliver,” said Mr. Gitogo.
The system has the ability to link ailments to diagnosis, drugs and medication costs, including consultation fees.

The installation of IT medical system is part of CIC Insurance Group’s business transformation strategy aimed at boosting profitability through enhanced customer service and product innovation.
The insurer will also develop new products, open new offices, and train insurance agents across the country. Some of these developments have already commenced and are set to continue within the year.
Recently, the Group opened a new branch in Kitengela as part of it national expansion strategy aimed at tapping business opportunities available at the counties. Other branches to be opened by end of 2015 include Isiolo, Nanyuki, Kitale, Kitui, Naivasha and Kilifi counties.

At the regional level, the Group has extended its footprints to South Sudan and Uganda through its CIC Africa subsidiary, which has entered into partnerships with co-operative bodies in the countries.
Plans are also at an advanced stage to start operations in Malawi.
