According to the Business Continuity Institute, Business Continuity is about building and improving resilience in your business.
It’s about identifying your key products and services and the most urgent activities that underpin them and then, once that ‘analysis’ is complete, it is about devising plans and strategies that will enable you to continue your business operations and enable you to recover quickly and effectively from any type disruption whatever its size or cause.
The big question is; if you lost your company building how would you recommence your business or better still would you still have a business?

You need to have a Business Continuity Plan in place for mission-critical functions, critical personnel, key business processes, recovery of vital records, critical suppliers identification, contacting of key vendors and clients etc.
“Two out of every five companies struck with a major disaster are unable to recover. Of the survivors, one third go out of business within the next two years,” stated Gartner Study – 1996.
“Get help if you don’t have a BCM program, address your mission critical problems and if you have one establish an awareness program for BCM for your company,” said Mr. Pete Frielinghaus, Managing Director – ContinuityEastAfrica
