Bloomberg has officially launched an all African Bloomberg website to drive data journalism and uptake of data by the African market.
This was announced by the CEO Bloomberg Media Group, Justin Smith during the closing of the second Bloomberg Africa Business Media Innovators (ABMI) Forum held in Naivasha, Kenya
“For the first time ever we will be launching a business financial website in Africa which is Bloomberg.com/Africa. The site will be able to offer real time, breaking news and data from Bloomberg’s multiple bureaus across the continent,” said Mr.Smith.

He further added that Bloomberg has a reach of 700,000 individuals across the continent who consume Bloomberg digital content. “With this change and partnership we hope this is the beginning to successful commitment of covering stories her e and bringing media revolution,” he said.
However, he noted that currently Bloomberg did not have African specific video programming but was working towards establishing a regional television in Africa. The website has since gone live.
In September 2016 Bloomberg also launched a new website in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the King Baudouin Foundation, and the Foundation Center which allows nonprofits and donors to track philanthropy’s impact in Central Africa.

The site, called Equal Footing, uses maps that show where grants to support women, their families, and their local communities have been made in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. It includes profiles of more than 1,000 foundations and nonprofits active in the area and includes reports on how various economic-development projects have fared.
The site allows users to look for grants made in a number of areas, including entrepreneurship, land and property rights, and vocational training. According to the site, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has been the largest donor in the area since 2006. Gates has made 37 grants totaling $496 million during that time period. After the Coca-Cola Foundation ($36 million), Bloomberg is third on the list, with $29 million in grants.
