On 3rd September, talks and discussions were held at the Serena Hotel, regarding the status and future of cyber security in the rapidly changing African technological landscape. Cybereason, a world renowned cyber security firm, that deals in setting up infrastructure that can prevent and track hackers, whilst alerting the authorities as to the steps the hackers have taken. Cybereason sent two delegates from South Africa to engage and interact with the audience, outlining ways that show how vulnerable an entity may be from hackers, and how to defend the entity from them in real time, whilst ensuring that it does not happen again.
Mr. Jacques Van Der Merwe, the sales director at Cybereason was at hand to say “What our system does, is that it automates the hunt. Using AI, deceptive analysis, cross correlation and close monitoring, with all this information, it thinks automatically in the background, so that any evolving threat that takes place, would allow the system to pick up the steps and activities of the hackers in real time, providing our customers to stop the attack in its tracks”
It was increasingly evident that critical computer based infrastructure is a highly valuable target to threat actors. The speakers then went over how to understand when a software is malicious, and the implications it may have to the growth of the business in the long run. Mr. Roberto Arico, senior sales engineer, went on to say “Automating the hunt, you are on the hacker’s tracks, stopping their every move.”
