ASUS will soon be introducing a series of its new innovations most of which were showcased for the first time at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas three weeks ago, in the Kenyan market, mid this year.
Some of the new products to be introduced in the market will include Zenfone 2 smartphone, Transformer Book T300 Chi 2-in-1 laptop and a ROG G20, a gaming PC machine
The company believes that consumers will be keen of tech brands this year and will judge them according to their innovativeness as opposed to the trends that are aware of.

“The tech products in 2015 will be geared towards application of the innovative demands of the consumers as opposed to knowledge of the trends. The products that we’ll be introducing meet this demand” said Chris Wen, ASUS Kenya Country Product Manager.
The Zenfone 2 comes equipped with a 1080p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3000mAh battery, 64-bit Intel Atom processor and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. It also comes with a 5.5 inch screen, however, rumour has it that the company could be planning to offer a more manageable 5-inch version as well when it finally hits the market in March.
On the other hand Transformer Book T300 Chi a detachable, ultra-thin 2-in-1 laptop with a 12.5-inch display, and has an elegant aluminum design with a stylish metallic cover and diamond-cut edges, it runs on the latest Intel Core M processor and has up to 8GB of memory. You can also use an optional Active Pen for handwriting and taking notes in OneNote.

“Part of our strategy for this year will be to try and introduce locally the innovations that have already been unveiled elsewhere in more developed markets-almost concurrently. This is because we believe that consumer’s needs are becoming similar in a more globalized world” said Wen.
Wen added that the announcement of the product lineup shows Asus’ commitment in advancing tech innovations in the gaming, Smartphone and PC industries in Kenya. He adds that this is testament to Asus’ resolve in meeting their consumer’s needs in terms of portability, entertainment and convenience.
In this year’s CES awards ASUS scooped seven innovation awards in the category of best design and engineering. The ZenBook NX500 and ZenBook UX305 ultraportable laptops, the Transformer Book T300 Chi 2-in-1 detachable, and the ROG GR8 ultra-compact gaming laptop all won awards in the Computer Hardware and Components category, the curved-screen LX321 and LX341 monitors won in the Computer Peripherals category, and the ROG G20AJ compact gaming desktop won in the Gaming Hardware and Accessories category.

Asus entered the phone market last year with the launch of its first phone, Asus Zenfone which was introduced in January 2014 even though it was an interesting product especially for emerging markets, it didn’t sell in East Africa.
The devices especially the Zenfone 2 smartphone is set to compete with the high-end Samsung Galaxy, Microsoft Lumia, Tecno Phantom and iPhone. However, we will have to wait for a while as the first bunch of the Zenfone 2 smartphone is set to hit the Global market in March which will retail at US $199 (Kshs 18,257).
In November last year, Asustek CEO Jerry Shen had estimated the company’s smartphone shipments for last year were 8 million units, and forecast shipments of 16 million units for this year.
