Apple Announces “One More Thing” Surprise Event For 10 November

The “one more thing” catchphrase was used by one of Apple’s most prolific creators, Steve Jobs, ahead of particularly significant product announcements for the company.

This time it references a virtual event on 10 November that will presumably see the company announce its first Arm-based Macs that run on Apple Silicon chips instead of the Intel processors the company has used since 2005.

Apple had recently announced that they were switching over from Intel processors to its their own Apple Silicon CPUs back in June at WWDC, promising that the first computers using the Arm-based chips would be out later in 2020.

It seems like they have stuck to their promise. The company says it’s making the change for similar reasons as its switch to Intel chips in 2005. They say they Apple can attain cleaner and better performance with lower power consumption from their own Arm-based efforts than they can with Intel’s processors.

The event comes a month after Apple released four models in their new iPhone 12 range – all of which are 5G compatible – and two months on from the company’s first September event in years not to feature an iPhone. The tables have turned, presumably with laptops stealing the show.

Back in September, Apple introduced its most powerful-ever chip, the A14 Bionic, which is available in the new iPad Air 4, as well as the new iPhones.

Along with new Macs, it’s also likely that the event will see the launch of macOS 11 Big Sur, which was also announced at WWDC and has been in beta for months.
