The Africa Management Initiative (AMI) hosted business leaders at a breakfast event, at the Serena hotel, Nairobi, where they learnt about AMI’s practical, affordable approach to learning and employee performance and experienced Africa’s first social online learning platform.
AMI, a social enterprise was established in 2012 to tackle Africa’s management capacity gap, leverages technology to empower African managers and entrepreneurs through practical, accessible and locally relevant learning tools and in person workshops.
AMI helps business across Africa build motivated, productive and effective workforces, in partnership with the continent’s most prestigious business schools.

“our goal is to reach 1 million African managers and entrepreneurs over the next decade enabling them develop new skills and build their businesses by providing access to world-class learning tools at affordable rates,” Said Ms Harrison, “Our courses are world class, practical and proudly African. And we focus on applied learning so our business clients actually see the impact on the bottom line,” she continued.
“I am delighted to see that innovative approaches to employees learning and development are finally taking root in Africa, a lot of which are home grown. If Kenya and indeed Africa is to achieve our development goals over the next 10 year, we must continue to be innovative online technology across the educational landscape such as this, organizations will significantly increase access for management talent to excellent management education and tools,” Said Patrick Obath.
During the event the managers had a chance to win free training for their employees through a raffle entry.

AMI will offer private, branded and customized online learning program solutions to encourage staff to learn, network and apply what they learn on the job.
AMI worked with Rockefeller Foundation on a program to reach over 2500 early stage social enterprises with practical, affordable and relevant learning through an online Learning and Networking community, combined with dozens of in-person workshop in 4 African countries.
Other AMI clients include the United States government agencies and various organizations in East Africa such as off grid electric in Tanzania.
