Airtel And Vodacom Partner To Share Networks
Airtel Africa and Vodacom Group have signed an infrastructure-sharing agreement covering Mozambique, Tanzania, and Congo, aiming to expand high-speed internet access and boost digital inclusion across Africa.
The deal, subject to regulatory approval, will see both operators share fibre networks and tower infrastructure to accelerate service rollouts, cut costs, and improve connectivity particularly in underserved areas.
“This partnership will open greater access to digital and financial opportunities that transform lives while meeting all regulatory requirements,” said Sunil Taldar, CEO of Airtel Africa.

Vodacom CEO Shameel Joosub said the agreement aligns with the company’s goal of connecting 260 million customers by 2030. “Providing connectivity to empower people is at the core of our strategy. Partnering with Airtel Africa takes us a step closer to a sustainable, inclusive, and connected digital future,” he said.
While rivals in the market, both companies stressed that infrastructure collaboration is now essential to bridge the digital divide, enhance network performance, and support emerging services like 4G, 5G, and advanced digital platforms.
