Peter Arina, Safaricom’s head of Consumer Business, has left the company after a long stint at the firm which lasted for a over a decade. Mr Arina joined Safaricom from Unilever. Also leaving the telco as part of the changes announced by the firm’s CEO Bob Collymore is Pauline Warui, the head of the Customer Service unit, who’s been with the companyfor 7 years. Sylvia Mulinge takes over at Mr Arina’s previous position.
Jumia’s Easter sale kicks off with the Easter egg hunt
This Easter, Jumia will host the biggest virtual egg hunt in Kenya’s history. One egg will be hidden among different categories of products every day in the week preceding Easter. The egg will contain a voucher code that could see you get the hidden item at a huge discount. Successful hunters will need to spot the product with the egg, add the item to cart and proceed to check out. At check-out you will need to redeem the special code that you will find on the product page of the item with the egg to get up to 85% off that item. Each code can be redeemed by a maximum of 10 different hunters.

Gondwana International Networks (GIN) to expand its VSAT services in Tanzania
Pan-African service provider, Gondwana International Networks (GIN), parent company to Africa Online, has announced that it will be expanding its VSAT services in Tanzania as well as launching a managed infrastructure and services solution called iManage. Africa Online was acquired by GIN in December 2013 and remains one of the leading African ISPs.
Winston Smith, GM, Terrestrial Services for GIN and Africa Online, says that the Group sees tremendous potential in the East African territories and together with its subsidiaries in Kenya and Uganda, which views Tanzania being as a key growth sector: “We have a licensed terrestrial wireless and VSAT networks in Dar es Salaam and have significant plans to grow and expand it.” The Tanzania business will leverage on Group capabilities and synergies in Technology, Networks and Skills to drive its Tanzanian expansion plan.
