Safaricom does away with night bundles introduces roll over of data
Safaricom has announced a suite of new data products that will offer its subscribers the opportunity to access to faster data more conveniently. The new suite of data will allow the rollover of the previous data bundles to the new bundles on the daily, weekly and monthly subscriptions. Consumer will now buy and use their daily bundles within 24 hours. Users will also be able to extend the validity of their unused data bundles by renewing them. However, the new validity period will only apply for those who make renewals before the earlier one expires.

Standard Group to unveil a 24-hour TV news channel
The Standard Group will unveil a new television station, the second one in its stable. The new station, KtnNews Channel, is a 24-hour station that will focus on delivering comprehensive, incisive news, current affairs programming, documentaries and features. According to Standard Online, The company’s premier television channel, KTN, will continue airing its popular programmes while KtnNews will air features, business stories and sports and with time, it will have different channels like the DSTV module where viewers can choose to watch sports, documentaries or news.
Alice Munyua of KICTANet elected to sit in Internet Society Board of Trustees

Alice Munyua, who is the founder of the Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) has been elected to sit in the Internet Society Board of Trustees. Ms Munyua has also convened and chaired the Kenya and East Africa Internet Governance Forum for five years and the 2011 UN-Internet Governance Forum.
KCA University to host its first ever Tech Expo
The KCA University is set to host a Tech Expo,this will be the first event of its’ kind to be held in the University. The event is scheduled to take place on the 15thJuly 2015. CS Matiang’i has 2-weeks to set up CA board
The Government has two weeks to set up a Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) board following a High Court order dismissing an application to restore the disbanded board. “Within fourteen days of the occurrence of a vacancy in the office of a chairperson or a member of the board, the Cabinet Secretary shall by notice in the Gazette and in at least two newspapers of national circulation declare vacancies in the board and shall invite applicants from qualified persons,” says the Kenya Information and Communication Amendment Act 2013.
Huduma Centres to assist in Govt tender applications
The Treasury, through its Integrated Financial Management Systems (IFMIS), plans to use Huduma Centres across the country to help businesses in completing the tender applications online. This is according to IFMIS Director Jerome Ochieng who was speaking during the launch of a training program for people with hearing impairment on use of the IFMIS tendering system. “We are initiating discussions with the Ministry of Devolution and Planning to use the Huduma Centres to provide support to suppliers in responding online to government tenders,” he said.
