Winners of the weekend’s sixth CIO Golf tournament received iPhone 6 smartphones courtesy of Airtel Kenya. The contestants who walked away with the iPhone 6 devices were Peter Gathuri (the overall winner of the tournament) and Teresia Odoo (the lady’s category winner).
On receiving the device Mr Gathuri expressed his joy and gave the rest of the audience a few pointers on how to achieve such fetes themselves.
The award was presented to him by Rajesh Mehta, GM, Airtel Business. “I would like to thank all the golfers and I would also like to thank Nyali golf course, and CIO directors Harry and Andrew and also the club captain, for hosting us today,” said Mehta.

“They say prayers do not work on the golf course, and I witnessed that today, on the longest drive I was praying and it was the ‘wrongest’ drive for me,” he added.
Airtel had led the pack of other sponsors to support the CIO Golf tournament which took place over the Madaraka weekend at the Nyali Golf Club. Other supporters of the event included MTN Business, Cyberoam, Food Empire and TBM.
The tournament seeks to bring together IT professionals and C-Level executives to network as they exchange knowledge on trending technologies.

Commenting on the tournament, CIO East Africa’s CEO, Harry Hare observed that over the years there has been plenty of insights shared on the golf course. “Exchange of IT knowledge has become critical to any business seeking success in the market as IT has already penetrated the core of business functions.”
This year, hundreds of IT professionals participated in the challenge. Other winners were Oliver Kharube, who emerged as the men winner and Allan Mola, who won best junior.
