Today is the world’s Safer Internet Day, popularly abbreviated as SID.
The event observed on every 5th February purposed to encourage a better internet usage and consumption.
Themed: ‘Together for a better internet’, this year’s SID hinges on encouraging the development of four critical skills among internet users which will consequently create a better internet environment.

The four skills, dubbed the 4Rs are; respect, responsibility, reasoning and resilience.
SID is celebrated globally in 130 countries, and is coordinated by the joint Insafe/Inhope Network, with the support of the European Commission, and National Safer Internet Centers across Europe.
The role of SID 2019

The office of the eSafety commissioner is the official committee for safer internet day in and is responsible for driving the initiative internationally. It will run a number of activities and events for individuals and organisations to participate in.
Getting involved
There are many ways one (individual or organization), can get involved with sid2019:

- run internal staff events

- sign up a class for a free, sid2019 virtual classroom
