Google has today marked International Women’s Day(IWD) Doodle with a YouTube video where they visited 13 countries asking from toddlers to grandmothers to complete the sentence, “One day I will…”
Google’s crew in which most filming locations they worked with a female-only crew to help create a celebratory and encouraging environment spoke to 337 women from San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Lagos, Moscow, Cairo, Berlin, London, Paris, Jakarta, Bangkok, New Delhi and Tokyo all sparkled with personality.
“One day I will”s, more signature dance moves, more hugs, more high-fives. The aspirations that the crew heard were as varied as the women and girls who shared them, from the very personal—swim with pigs in the Bahamas—to the very global—give a voice to those who can’t speak—and everything in between.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The original aim of the day – to achieve full gender equality for women in the world – has still not been realized. Figures show that globally, women’s education, health and violence towards women is still worse than that of men.
According to Wikipedia ,the earliest Women’s Day observance was held on February 28, 1909, in New York; it was organized by the Socialist Party of America in remembrance of the 1908 strike of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union. It was on on March 19, 1911, IWD was marked for the first time, by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. This year is the 105th anniversary.
In 1913, it was decided to transfer IWD to March 8, and it has been celebrated on that day ever since. The day was only recognised by the United Nations in 1975, but ever since it has created a theme each year for the celebration.

In 2011, US President Barack Obama proclaimed March to be ‘Women’s History Month’.
The 2016 theme is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. The idea is to accelerate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which was formally adopted by world leaders at a 2015 UN summit. It focuses on reducing poverty, hunger, disease and gender equality.
Anyone can celebrate the event by getting involved in International Women’s Day in different ways but also by sharing your aspiration with #OneDayIWill. Even women who are already accomplished aren’t done dreaming. Jane Goodall shared her hope to one day discuss the environment with the Pope, while Nobel Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai and activist Muzoon Almellehan continue to work fearlessly toward a future where every girl can go to school.
