The announcement was made through Mr. Odinga’s official Facebook account, through a status update, that highlighted his personal joy towards this endeavor and informed his followers that it is all in an aim to be much more accessible to them.
“The wait is finally over! I am excited to announce the launch of my new website this Friday. http://www.rao.co.ke This site will give me a chance to better interact with my supporters as well as share insight into my personal life.” It continued.
This website is set to enhance Mr. Odinga’s online stature, as the former Prime minister is already an ever present figure on the Kenyan web either directly or indirectly.

Mr. Odinga is directly present on the web through his social media accounts where he constantly keeps his followers updated through tweeting and updating his status regularly.
This constant interaction has seen him gunner over 471,721 followers on his official twitter account and 266,153 likes on his official Facebook page.
The former Prime Minister has also indirectly been involved online in various ways, with the more popular being his welcome home hashtag by #KOT (Kenyans on Twitter) dubbed ‘#BabaWhileYouWereAway’.

This took place last year, where Kenyans, brought online satire in a way to welcome the opposition leader, Raila Odinga back to the country after his over 2-month trip to the US.
It was through the above mentioned hashtag that #KOT took their time to brief Raila Odinga – satirically – on what had been happening in the country while he had left.
The #BabaWhileYouWere, was the most trending topic in Kenya on that day with thousands of tweets flocking in every few minutes.
