This announcement was made by Aaron Fu, Managing Partner, Nest VC, during the second annual Payments East Africa Conference, ongoing at the Radison Blu Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.
“Mettā is a global club for entrepreneurs that connects people, ideas and resources in the name of furthering business opportunities. Entrepreneurs in the programme will also enjoy full access to mentors, offline and online community, and a physical Mettā space in Nairobi,” said Fu during a panel session, discussing the future of Fintech in East Africa.
The second annual Payments East Africa conference, hosted by Terrapinn, kicked off on the 27th of September and will officialy close on the 28th of September. The conference is running alongside, Future Bank East Africa and The Ecommerce Show East Africa.

The events International Keynote was given by: Jurg Muller, Co-Author, The End of Banking: Money Credit and the Digital Revolution, Who spoke on “Understanding the big picture of financial innovation”.
“Banking is no longer needed…Tech allows a new, better financial system.” Muller said during his opening speech.
Joseph Ridley, General Manger, Terrapinn, said: “We’ve had a great response and feedback these past few weeks from banks wanting to learn more about how digital can help them become more cost effective and operationally efficient whilst maintaining margins (in lite of the recent capping of interest rates by the Central Bank). The reality is that the industry knows that technology can be a great differentiator in what is a very competitive market place as consumer expectations evolve on a daily basis”
