In Oracle Open World 2015, Oracle has introduced a diverse range of new cloud applications and services to help customers and partners accelerate success in the cloud.
Announcing the products during his opening keynote for the 2015 Oracle Open World which is also the 35th conference, Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison also said that the company was set to focus more in to security as he slightly touched on Oracle’s Security strategy.
Mr. Ellison also indirectly attacked SAP and IBM saying that at some point he viewed them as competitors but not anymore claiming that they ain’t big on cloud as compared to Oracle and in a measure directed to IBM, Oracle has announced Exa Your Power, which is a program that offers IBM Power Customers a form of Proof of Concept database migration to oracle engineered Systems running on Intel architecture.

In his keynote, he also added that Oracle was set to focus largely on its Software as a Service (SaaS) platform which is the company’s oldest cloud platform as compared to Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrustructure as a Service (IaaS) where Oracle is also big.
To add to this Oracle will therefore roll out SaaS applications built from the scratch to the cloud using Oracle’s Fusion Middleware. He also announced an intergrated just in time learning system for the SaaS platform.
Oracle currently has 1300 customers for its Entreprise resource and 5000 customers for its HCM application.

The company also released Exa Data a combined compute and storage system to support a higher database software.
Larry Ellison is set to focus more broadly on security on his main key note on Tuesday, however, he said that he felt many organisations were still taking security lightly and as an option which shouldn’t be the case in an era where more data is being moved to the cloud daily.
“Security has become a bigger risk as vast amounts of data are moved to the cloud. People buy security but lack to turn them on. There shouldn’t be anon on and off button in security, security should always be on,” he concluded.
